For Applicants holding International Qualifications, the General Entrance Requirements are:

 

American-Patterned Education

SAT

Minimum score of 1,190 (out of 1,600) in new SAT or 1,650 (out of 2,400) in old SAT (minimum score of 550 in each of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing), and a sub-score on essay writing of no less than 8.

Advanced Placement (AP)

Grade 3 in at least two AP subjects

American College Test (ACT)

Minimum composite score of 23

Associate Degree (AD)

Successful completion of one year's study in a full-time AD programme at a recognised US university/ community college, the duration of which should be no less than two years in full-time mode.

Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) in community colleges

Successful completion of IGETC with Grade C or above in each of the subjects

Recognised English Language Qualifications

Refer to the “Alternative English Language Qualification” below.

 

 

Australian-Patterned Education

Minimum score of 80 in:

Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) /Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) /Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank   (ENTER) /Universities Admission Index (UAI) or Overall Position (OP) Band between 1 and 8

Recognised English Language Qualifications

Minimum of 80% or equivalent in Grade 12 English (Australian State or Territory High School Certificate Examination) or refer to the “Alternative English Language Qualification” below.

 

British-Patterned Education

GCE Advanced Level (AL)/ International Advanced Level (IAL)

  1. Grade E or above in three AL/ IAL subjects; or
  2. Grade E or above in two AL/ IAL subjects plus two Advanced Supplementary Level (ASL) subjects

(Not including Chinese and English Language subjects. The same subject cannot be counted at both the AL and ASL.)

Cambridge Pre-U Diploma

  1. Grade P3 (Pass 3) or better in three Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subjects; or
  2. Cambridge Pre-U Diploma

(Not including Chinese and English Language subjects)

BTEC

BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC); or

BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND); or

BTEC Level 3 National Diploma  (ND)/ BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

(Foundation, Diploma and Certificate qualifications awarded by colleges and universities in the UK will be considered on a case-by-case basis for admission without advanced standing)

Recognised English Language Qualifications

Refer to the “Alternative English Language Qualification” below.

 

Canadian-Patterned Education

Alberta: High School Graduation Diploma with five Grade 12 courses with a minimum average of 70%

British Columbia: Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with five Grade 12 courses with a minimum average of 70%

Ontario: Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six Grade 12 U or M course with a minimum average of 70%

Quebec: Diploma of Collegial Studies

Other provinces: High School Graduation Diploma with five Grade 12 subjects with a minimum average of 70%

Recognised English Language Qualifications:

Minimum of 70% in Grade 12 English Course or refer to the “Alternative English Language Qualification” below.

 

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

IB diploma holders or students who will take the IB examinations in 2019 are eligible to apply. For IB Diploma applicants, please refer to the “Alternative English Language Qualification” Part 8 & 9 for details.

 

Alternative English Language Qualifications

The following public examination results are recognised by the College as equivalent to Level 3 of HKDSE English:

  1. Minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (Internet-based) in TOEFL; or
  2. Minimum score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Level; or
  3. Grade C/Grade 4 or above in GCE OL/ GCSE English/ English Language or English Literature; or
  4. Grade C/Grade 4 or above in IGCSE First Language English; or
  5. Grade B/ Grade 5 or above in IGCSE English as a Second Language; or
  6. Grade E or above in GCE AS Level or AL Level English; or
  7. Grade E or above in HKALE Use of English (AS Use of English); or
  8. Grade 4 or above in IB English A (Higher or Standard Level)/IB English B (Higher Level)/IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level); or
  9. Grade 4 or above in IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level); or
  10. Other English language qualifications deemed acceptable by the College.
