Program Introduction
UIC-ACE International Art & Design Foundation Certificate Program (hereinafter referred to as “The program”) is one academic year long program for students who've already completed high school education but want to take a year off to complete a serious portfolio and prepare their applications to art & design colleges or majors. The program select fundamental art & design courses common in AICAD (Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design) schools foundation year education, and design it both in NASAD (National Association School Of Arts and Design) standard and also customaries for Chinese students.
The program will select qualified foreign or domestic teachers to deliver teaching and manage course-quality. When the students complete the program, they will be awarded UIC-ACE Foundation Certificate and accepted to participating art & design colleges or universities abroad for bachelor degree.

*Whole Person Education: Also called holistic education, is concerned with the growth of a person’s intellectual, moral, physical, social, emotional, artistic, and spiritual potential. Educational goals include character formation, broad social knowledge and skills, ability to think independently and solve personal problems, high moral and social consciousness. It mainly includes Experiential Development class, Emotional Intelligence class and Experiential Arts class.

Academy of Continuing Education (ACE), the institute of Best Practice, is part of United International College (UIC) with the aim to draw upon the strong caliber of UIC academic teachers and UIC’s networks to support its own students in attaining their own personal educational aspirations and professional goals. The program’s curriculum follows *NASAD curriculum standards and connects with 42 leading art & design member schools in *AICAD.
*NASAD: Founded in 1944, NASAD - the National Association of Schools of Art and Design -is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 360 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for art and design and art/design-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other art/design-related endeavors.
*AICAD, the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, is a Membership Organization of the 42 Leading Art & Design Schools in the USA and Canada. It was founded in 1991.
