1. Authentication fails after swiping my staff card?

 This can be due to your staff card serial number is not updated in our system.

Please following below instructions,

  • Go to the Administrative Assistant who has a card reader of your division/unit.
  • Swipe your staff card on the card reader.
  • He/she collects the card serial number and inform ITSC to update.

 

2. Authentication fails even I keying in my UIC account & password?

 If you are a new staff, it can be assumed that your account is not be activated yet.
Otherwise, you may enter your account or password wrong. Please try it again.

 

3. How to Log out?

 You will be logout automatically by system when no operation is performed after 15 seconds.
Alternatively, you can press [LOG OUT] on the control panel, and press [YES] in the logout dialog.

 

4. No printout after I press [Print] on the touch panel?

Please check the alert message. In some cases, it is due to run out of paper. Please add paper to proceed printing.

5. The USB cannot be recognized

Please confirm that the USB media is securely inserted to the USB port of the printer.
USB media for this printer (Toshiba 457) shall meet the below conditions.
- Formatted in FAT16 or FAT32
- Having only one partition
There might be some USB media meet the condition above and cannot be recognized. Please try another USB media.

 

6. Cannot find the USB port on the color printer located in F301?

The USB port is located at the left-side of the printer, next to the card reader.

 

7. Not showing up the PaperCut (User Information) window?

Press ①[MENU] on the control panel and press ②[Extension] on the touch panel.

8. How to scan a file in the JPG format?

Select [FULL COLOR] or [GRAY SCALE] for color modes in the scan setting, and then select [JPEG] for the file format.

 

9. How to print multiply PowerPoint slides on one page?

Please adjust printing settings via Printer Properties.

Open a PPT file -> Click [File] tab -> Select [Print] -> Click [Printer Properties] below Printer.
In the Printer’s Properties dialog (see below), click [Finishing] tab and set options as required. Click [OK]. Then click [Print].

10. How to use the Top-up card? (Student Only)

  • Login to a computer in F204/LRC/F201/C403/C402;
  • Click on the “Details…” link on the balance window from the desktop;

  • Enter your password to login Papercut

  • Click “Redeem Card” ;

  • Scratch off the top-up card to get the top-up password;

  • Key in the password with dashes (-) and click “Redeem Card” to confirm. The value of the card will immediately be added to your printing balance.

Note: The card is valid for a single usage only.

11. How to refund my printing credits? (Student Only)

Students may apply to have printing credits refunded in the event of:

  • poor printer output (e.g. streaks on page; uneven toner coverage; mangled or torn paper)
  • no printer output (e.g. paper jams or printer runs out of paper)
  • ones-sided output while a job is set to be printed on both sides.(Only 50% refunded)

Refunds will NOT be issued for:

  • instances of user error —e.g. a job is sent with the incorrect formatting, orientation or printer settings
  • Unused printing credits – printing credits are non-refundable.

Instructions for submitting refund request online

Login to a computer in F204.Click on the “Details…”link on the balance window from the desktop.

You will see the Summary screen. Click the link Recent Print Jobs in the left-side navigation bar. You will see a list of your recent print jobs. In the Status column, Click the link [request refund] for the job that you want credits refunded.

The refund page will show a summary of the job details. In the Refund Details section, select whether you are applying for a full or partial refund. If applying for a partial refund, enter the amount you would like refunded. Enter a reason for your refund request - e.g. poor output quality; mangled output; etc. Click the Send button when done.

After submitting the refund request, you'll note that the status associated with that job will be updated to Refund Pending. All refund requests will be reviewed and will be processed within 2 working days.
