Circulation Services:

The Circulation Desk is situated on the second floor of the Learning Resource Centre. We handle lending, returning, renewals, fine payments, study room reservations and general information enquiries. Course Reserves are kept at the Circulation Desk and there are 3 Self-Check units for patrons to borrow and return items by themselves.

Borrowing materials:

Your UIC Student/Staff Picture Identification Card is your library card. Present your card with the items you wish to borrow at the Circulation Desk or at our Self-Check Units.

This card is not transferrable. The person named on the card is responsible for all library transactions made with the card.

Lost Card:

Report lost card to Circulation Staff immediately. Apply for your replacement card by following the process posted on the website of Academic Registry:

Faculty and staff can consult UIC HR office for card replacement.

You must present your Student I.D. booklet together with your Citizenship Card (if you are a Faculty/Staff member, your Citizenship Card or alternative cards with your photos on them) and register at the Security Counter every time you visit the library while waiting for your replacement card.

Course Reserves:

Course Reserves materials are for in-library use only. Loan period is 2 hours or 15 minutes before closing, whichever is sooner.

You can renew library materials at the Circulation Desk or online by visiting our online library catalogue and login to “My Account”:

Reasons which may block your renewal request:

· You have reached your renewal limit (1 renewal is allowed)

· You have an overdue book

· Item has been requested by another patron

· You owe a library fine

Library Fines:

Fines for late return of LRC general materials are 2 yuan/day/item. Maximum fines for an overdue item are 120 yuan.

Fines for late return of Course Reserves, headsets, and remote controls are 2 yuan/hour/item or any portion of the hour.

Unreturned/Damaged/Lost Materials:

Please report to Circulation Services if you are unable to locate borrowed LRC’s material. Regular circulating materials not returned 60 days after the due date are assumed to be lost whereas Course Reserves materials not returned 7 days after the due date are assumed to be lost. Please refer to our Policies and Regulations for calculation of replacement charges.

Headphones/Remote Controls Lending Policy:

Headphones/Remote controls are available to students and staff for the use of our audio-visual equipment. They can be checked out at the Circulation Desk for 2 hours on a first-come, first-served basis, no overnight loan. Your library account must be in good standing.

When you borrow our headphones/remote controls, you agree to the following terms:
   • They are for in-library use only.
   • Overdue fine is 2 yuan per hour/or any portion of the hour.
   • If you notice any existing visible damage on the headphone/remote control you have borrowed,
     bring it to our attention immediately.
   • Full replacement cost is 800 yuan/headphone and 300 yuan/remote control. You will be billed
     for the replacement cost in addition to any overdue fines for lost, stolen, damaged (e.g. cracks,
     broken) and unreturned headphone/remote control while checked out to you.
